To complete unification, an ExternalIdentity with an identifier value from each CMMS system must be added to any entity that relates to a Work Order. There is more than one way to accomplish this, but the steps might look like the below.
Locations
- Sync or import Places (Buildings, Floors, Spaces) from each CMMS source connector.
- Places typically merge automatically on their matching Identities, so once you have place mapped both sources, the places should merge into single entities:
- Buildings merge on the PostalAddressIdentity (address entered in the source connector place mapping)
- Floors merge on the FloorLevelIdentity (Floor Level configured in the source connector place mapping)
- Spaces merge on the SpaceCode (imported from the source connector)
- If you need additional assistance unifying places after syncing places from each source CMMS involved in your system, contact Mapped Support.
Assets
In order for Things (Equipment) to sync across CMMS systems, you will need to import assets from each CMMS connector and unify them with their required identities.

Once assets have been imported, they need to have ExternalIdentity values from each CMMS system linked to them.
Unification Methods
Unification via CSV Identities
Entities may be unified via the CSV Identities connector. This connector lets you directly add org-scoped ExternalIdentity values to any Mapped entity, so long as you know its Mapped ID and base type. This is useful if:
- You only imported assets from one CMMS, you have an export of the identifiers from the other CMMS data source, and you know how to match them up. For example: If you know the expected Willow twin Id of each entity imported from some other source.
- You know which entities must be unified based on their names or other metadata and have them matched up via spreadsheet. Adding the org-scoped ExternalIdentity from one asset onto its match will result in the two merging together.
Unification via Expert Center
Alternatively, the same asset contributed from multiple connectors may be unified via Mapped Expert Center.
For each Building whose assets have been synced:
- Navigate to each Building in Expert Center
- For each CMMS connector involved, run a PULL job
- Navigate to the Unification view for that Building
- Use the Suggest button for suggested entities to unify via Expert Center's inference algorithm, or manually unify filtering by Mame, Entity Type, or connectorIds.
- Select Things and Bulk Unify to merge them into one entity.
